Metro launches in August a proclamation for the procurement of 200 radios to improve communication between stations, control centre and the trains that run on Federal District, at a cost of $ 14 million. According to the company, the value is based on market prices and in similar bids. The purchase was examined and approved by the box.

The value also encompasses broadcast antennas and software. The technology of the devices is equivalent to those used by law enforcement agencies. They follow the Protocol Terrestrial Trunked Radio (Tetra), managed by an International Institute. The radios are intended for drivers, security officers, agents operating station and traffic inspectors. The used currently have more than 17 years, according to the subway, and would have to be dropped in the next two years for being out of step and don’t conform more technical standards of Anatel.

The forecast is that the new equipment coming into test at the end of 2016. The Metro serves 140 thousand users daily, working from 6:0 at 11:30 pm between Monday and Saturday and 7:0 at 7:0 pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Modernization and expansion
The Metro provides for August a package of 14 bids for the modernisation and expansion of the system. The first of these is the radio communication system. The goal, he says, is to get “more efficiency, agility, and operational security.”

The company also provides the purchase of 10 new trains, for r $ 231,5 million. The vehicles are more modern than the existing 32 and should take 24 months to come into operation. The bid will include the acquisition of spare parts.
