History of radio communications

It all began in 1892 with the Italian Physicist Guglielmo Marconi, who discovered the possibility to transmit signals from a distance with wireless antennas, with several experiments noted, Marconi realized that the antennas, when placed higher, had a sign of wider bandwidth.

With this discovery gave the name of this technology of Radiotelegraphy or wireless Telegraph. With the advancement of his experiments Marconi created a wave transmitter which transmitted signals in Morse code, Morse code is a system of binary representation of numbers, letters and graphic signs, using short and long sounds, in addition to dots and dashes to transmit messages.

At the beginning of the 20th century was created the electric valve by American Lee De Forest improving sound quality which was transmitted by telegraph. Allowed the transmission of sound information with electromagnetic waves, kicking off the broadcasts.

Radio communications of Brazil

You must remember that around 1900 father Landell de Moura also sought similar results in experiences made in Porto Alegre, in the Mediatrix, where his parish. It was one of the pioneers with the first transmission of the human voice via radio in the world.

In Brazil, the first official broadcast was held at the centennial of the independence of Brazil, in September 7, 1922, President Epitácio Pessoa, accompanied by the Kings of Belgium, Albert I and Elizabeth, opened the Centennial Exhibition in Rio de Janeiro. The opening speech of Epitácio Pessoa was broadcast to receivers installed in Niterói, Petrópolis and São Paulo, through an antenna installed on the Corcovado. On the same day, in the evening, the Opera O Guarani, Carlos Gomes, was transmitted to Municipal theater loudspeakers installed in the exhibition, haunting the people who were present.

It was the beginning of the first Brazil radio station: radio society of Rio de Janeiro. Founded by Edgar Roquette-Pinto, the station was donated to the Government in 1936 and exists until today, but with the name of Radio MEC.
